Quilt Shop Presents
“Not Really a
Block of the Month”
Five Patch Chain
Sampler Quilt
84" x
113"
With typical block of the month projects, what do you have at the end of one year? Usually, the most you would have is 12 completed blocks. Some of you may only have 12 uncompleted kits! (Take it from one who has many uncompleted BOM kits!)
How do we address this addition to stash of small, see through plastic bags??? We have decided to offer this latest project with some help along the way which, for many of you, will result in a completed, 84" x 113" quilt top at the end of one year.
How will we do this?
1. The project consists of 8 sampler blocks, sashings, and pieced alternating and border blocks, rather than just 12 blocks.
2. We will hold bi-monthly meetings (every other month) to demonstrate new and easy ways to cut and piece the blocks using Marti Michell’s Perfect Patchwork Templates (set M included).
3. At each meeting, you will be encouraged to stay up to date on your sewing simply by viewing what progress others are making. Throughout the year, we will also offer “free sew” dates for anyone who needs a little extra help.
4. And at a final “graduation” meeting, all those who have a completed quilt top, will be “graduated” from the program with something special from Amy and me, as well as a discount coupon for binding and backing.
Cost?....There is a $30.00 sign-up fee (plus tax) that is due when you sign-up. After that, there will be 6 kits - each will cost $25.00 and will be available every two months on the scheduled demonstration meeting dates.
Meeting Dates?....Our first meeting will be Saturday, May 3 at 9 a.m. Additional meetings will be held in July, Sept, Nov, Jan. and Mar, usually on the first Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. A final meeting in May, 2009 will be held for graduation and to view completed projects. (A meeting schedule will be distributed to participants on May 3.)
When can I see the quilt?......The quilt is now on display at the shop. Because we like variety, we are offering the quilt in 3 colorways. Chose the one you like best!
How and when can I sign-up?....We are taking sign-ups now, either in person or by phone. Space is limited, so sign-up as soon as you know you want to participate. Do to a finite classroom size, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate everyone that is interested, but we will do our best.
Hope to hear from you soon!
